We are all very excited about our daughter’s early acceptance to Yale; thank you again for all of your help. Two things really stand out to me as I reflect on your involvement with her college application process. First, I appreciate the time that you took getting to know KJ, her strengths, and her goals. Taking that time to listen, and to get to know her from her junior year on enabled you to be very effective as you later helped with the application process. Second, having an excellent transcript and test scores is not nearly enough to get into the top schools. I believe that your skill in helping KJ to craft an overall application package that allowed her personality and spirit to come through made the difference between acceptance and rejection at her top choice school, Yale.
I look forward to working with you again with KJ's younger sisters and brother.

The admissions process is so charged with stress that even the strongest parent-child relationships are tested. Having Dan work with our son, a recruited athlete, took so much of the stress out of the process, and helped him maximize and consider his different options. He was accepted early to Amherst, and we are thrilled! Thank you for making an otherwise stressful and emotionally charged time between parent and child such a calm and enjoyable journey.

Throughout the sometimes nerve-wracking college admissions process, Shannon provided much needed and appreciated consistency, stability, and guidance for me throughout my senior year. Shannon has an in-depth understanding of the college application process and a reassuring grasp of the key components of a good application. Though my parents and high school teachers did everything they could to help me, Shannon offered several important pieces of advice that no one else would have offered. The mock interviews I had with Shannon were remarkably helpful and they continue to benefit me as I apply for internships and engage in conversations with faculty. Many aspects of my work with Shannon seemed minor at the time, but I now realize that they were critical to my success. With her help, I was able to narrow my college choices down to nine schools, and was accepted at six of these schools. With Shannon’s background as a student, advisor, and admissions reader at Yale, she has the experience needed to help talented students reach their goals in a competitive and demanding environment.

I thought Collegiate Compass was a great investment. It was wonderful for my daughter to have someone outside of the family to talk to about the whole college process - both generally and on an application specific basis. Collegiate Compass's experience, guidance and feedback were always on target and well appreciated.

Shannon did a wonderful job with our son and we would highly recommend her to any family with college-bound students. She not only helped our son through the processes of developing a list of colleges, improving interviewing skills, and refining application essays, but also got to know our son and genuinely cared about helping him secure admission to colleges that would be the best fit for him personally as well as academically. With Shannon’s help, our son gained admission to the U.S. Naval Academy, Notre Dame, Cornell and Northwestern. She provided independent insights and counsel that our son respected and trusted, which made the entire process considerably smoother for all of us. Shannon provides a knowledgeable, professional and gentle voice that guided us through this very challenging process. Given the life changing significance of choosing a college, the investment in Shannon’s assistance turned out to be a very wise decision for our family. When our younger daughter is of college bound age, we will clearly be enlisting Shannon’s counsel again.

Shannon’s help was invaluable to me - whether it was brainstorming and editing essays, figuring out which schools to apply to or sorting out the details of the college admissions process, Shannon was there to support me. Having a counselor with a background in admissions and specifically the admissions process for athletes was immensely helpful. Her individualized attention and enthusiasm made the admissions process enjoyable and organized. Washington and Lee University is the perfect place for me, and Shannon’s guidance throughout the application and decision-making process was a very important factor in my finding a college that is such a wonderful fit.

Your advice was incredibly valuable both to my daughter and to us as parents; your guidance allowed us to validate that our daughter was properly focused on colleges which matched her goals, and to identify what else needed to be done to properly present her application in a most favorable manner. After consulting with you, we were comfortable in knowing that our daughter had done everything she could do to accomplish her college objectives. Your advice was ultimately a significant factor in my daughter being accepted at 7 of her 8 desired schools. We will be using Collegiate Compass again for our other children.

Shannon was immensely helpful in demystifying the entire college application process for us as parents, and more importantly, for our son, who was accepted early decision at his first choice Ivy. Her approach is at once pragmatic and insightful in matching expectations with the requirements for admission in an increasingly competitive environment. She guided our son through the process of selecting the schools that represented the best fit for him. In addition to helping us "crack the code" on the occasionally inscrutable admissions process, she established a marvelous working relationship with our son, and stayed directly involved with him throughout the application process. We unequivocally recommend Collegiate Compass and its consultants to parents and students preparing for and amidst the college admissions process.

I truly believe that your assistance gave me an edge. Though I am ranked first in my high school class of over 600, and have an SAT score over 1500, I felt that I needed advice on how to further distinguish myself from the many other outstanding applicants to top colleges. Your advice is very comprehensive and helped me to successfully combine content and presentation. Thank you very much!

We had already met with another college counselor in our area when we heard about Collegiate Compass, were impressed with Shannon's credentials, and decided to meet with her. What a difference! The insight and perspective that Shannon provided in the first half-hour of our meeting far surpassed what had been accomplished in hours spent with the other counselor. She is professional, clear, effective, and a great role model for students.
